 Digs: Compass Pot

Digssurveyman writes "Phil Ryder and writer fixed a manhole lid on Compass Pot Tuesday March 6. Having difficulty with the bolts we decided that in future it would be better to fabricate a frame from angle iron as done at Langstroth Cave. Need a supply of angle some 2 inch by 3 inch by 1/4 to cut into aprox 2 foot lengths and weld together.

The hole still needs part of the sides filling in and some heavy duty conveyor belting would be ideal.

It is now safe for livestock and the coming lambing season although we still have to fix a length of chain to the lid so it cannot be dropped down the hole.
