 New Finds: Rumbling Hole

New Findsrichard bendall writes "
Richard Bendall(WRPC) and compadre Dave Ramsay(RRCPC) have been enjoying significant success. A series of nine pitches, with three alternative routes, 118m depth, some 350m of passage and the game’s not up yet!

We have been installing 10mm Stainless Steel through bolts and hangers that will be left in place. The total spend on what will be left in so far exceeds £160.

Hence notice to the club, kindred clubs and cavers generally. We are looking for contributions to cover this cost. We are not asking to cover the cost of expendables like caps, cheap “disposable” bolts for scaling and that type of thing. Only the cost of what will be left when we leave, to benefit all cavers wishing to enjoy this fine, challenging cave.

So, when it comes to the next Committee Meeting I would hope for a positive outcome to this request. (Invoices can be supplied.)"

 New Finds: NEW FIND!

New Findsdirtyboy writes "A new discovery has been made up Langstrothdale!
It was noted on the way up to Compass Pot that a recent collapse within a shakehole may have led on to possibilities of new passageway.

After much debate it has been decided to name this new find "Yellow Snaking Plastic Pipe (Shakeholes Have Nothing To Do With Caves) Pot".

At present the site is unstable and takes in large volumes of water.

Mr Rhodes"

 New Finds: Robin Pot, Langstrothdale

New Findsbagga writes "High up Hagg Beck this twin entranced shakehole in black limestone has been on our list for many years after a good report from Harry Long. It was Phil Parker that finally dragged us up there.
We have gained a rift at 4 metres depth that bells out underneath and is an old stream sink. Unfortunately the wider part is full of collapse material from the shakehole and progress can only be made for a few metres until stopped by loose flakes. Work continues."

New Finds: Compass Pot, Lanstrothdale latest.

New Findsbagga writes "Bang Boys 1
Diggers 0.

I hold my hands up in defeat, they broke out of the entrance shaft first (Its cost me a lot of beer in the Kings Head). The trench under the left of the shaft the diggers were following joins the bangers passage at a sharp bend about 5 metres in. We would have never got in that way as the bastards had filled it with flakes from the inside!

From here a short flat out crawl leads to a dangerous moving wall and a large slab in the roof that will have to be cleared before any progress can be made. At the moment the end is Ryderproof!

If your particular fetish is laying flat out for hours on end moving rock whilst a cold stream runs in the leg of your oversuit, and out of your neck, you are welcome to join us.

New Finds: Notts III open to non-divers!

New FindsRichard Bendall writes "A simple bolt climb up Kleine Schiedegg just before the downstream sump in Notts II, rigged as a single pitch up 12m and one deviation, leads to the continuation of the main stream, large phreatic roof tunnel, mud strewn but pretty.

Warning - floods to the roof!

A mud slope leads down to a window on the right and continuing downward slope into Inlet 17, Notts III.

Rigged for SRT for the return.

Right at the stream leads to the short 20m streamway between sumps whilst left, upstream walking becomes a crawl to the sump.

Visitors are asked to continue to dig the obvious channel to drain the sump.

Beyond the passage ends at a constriction! And we know they don't exist these days!!"
