Present: Denis, Fay, Andy, Jack, Steve (Woods), Nigel, Phil
Fay was to rig with Denis and Jack, Steve, Andy: Phil, Nigel were to derig. We did not see Phil or Nigel again.
Conditions were perfect and Fay set off with myself in tow. The route she chose was to bypass Slot Pitch rigging steady on maillons with plenty of chatting amongst team. Fay saw Pitch 5 as her nemesis, tight rift, no floor till pitch head.
I am not a sycophant but her rigging was text book. On following her down pitch she was emotional at completing her task asking if I would be alright de-rigging not knowing if the rest of the team was following.
No need Andy appeared and insisted I take a photo of him descending the pitch. Last down Steve with his beaming smile, quick snack, team hug and photo. Fay said ‘Lead out, Denis” as she would follow. I quickly took her up on her offer knowing the de-rigging of the traverse above the last pitch would be hard. Jack was waiting at Pitch 4.
I had a peek at static sump.
Exiting was steady, Fay, myself and Jack waiting on the surface for the de-rig team.
No Phil or Nigel. Maybe aliens had abducted them.
Back at the cars in a misty Kingsdale for de-brief and tackle check.
