Bull Pot of the Witches

Wednesday 31st January 2018 Fay, Dennis, Phil Parker, Genevieve Thompson

After meeting us at Inglesport for breakfast and delivering kit, Jack bailed out with Man Flu, leaving three of us to head off to Bull Pot.  Fay, Dennis and myself arrived at Bull Pot Farm where we met up with Phil.

After changing and co-ordinating ropes and bags, we headed off to the scramble down to the entrance where we were wowed by the fabulous waterfall cascading down opposite us.  There was a bit of a discussion over the route to get into the cave system with myself, Fay and Dennis opting for an SRT trip.  Whilst we got ready to go down the first pitch, Phil disappeared to reappear at various points later during the trip – who knows where he went, but he wasn’t doing an SRT trip as we had all the ropes!

For me it was a great trip for practising my SRT skills which were somewhat rusty, but I got down with the great support as always from Dennis and Fay.  With added crawling and scrambling we made it to the bottom of the big waterfall from the start of the trip.  We then discovered that Dennis was no longer with us, although Phil had reappeared.  The mystery of the missing Dennis is best described as “to poo or not to poo”.

When Dennis did re-join us, he kept us all highly entertained by his wild “dance-moves” across the muddy floor.  Photos were taken and then it was time to turn around and head back out.  A fun trip for all.
